The proteins of this family are tumor-specific antigens that can be recognized by autologous cytolytic T lymphocytes. This protein contains a large number of unique short repetitive sequences in front of the MAGE-homologous sequence, and therefore is about 800 aa longer than the other MAGE proteins. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008] Function: May enhance ubiquitin ligase activity of RING-type zinc finger-containing E3 ubiquitin-protein ligases. Proposed to act through recruitment and/or stabilization of the Ubl-conjugating enzyme (E2) at the E3:substrate complex. Subunit: Interacts with TRIM27. Subcellular Location: Expressed in placenta, fetal and brain. Not detected in heart and small intestine, very low levels in fibroblasts. Not expressed in brain of a Prader-Willi patient.
